This year’s ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo, 29 October - 1 November 2017 in San Diego, has a long lineup of workshops, educational sessions, and keynote speakers eager to share the most significant trends in pharmaceutical manufacturing. In addition, there are several bonus events for attendees to participate in over the four-day conference, such as the facility tours. Attendees can choose to tour the facilities of three different San Diego-based companies: Genentech and Gilead, Illumina, and Ballast Point Brewing Company. Genentech Inc. and Gilead Combined Tour

Genentech Inc., a leading biotechnology company dedicated to developing and commercializing medicines to treat life threatening conditions, has teamed up with Gilead Sciences for this combined tour. Gilead, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in developing treatments for diseases such as cancer and HIV/AIDS, commissioned DGA Architects to design a new development lab and a cGMP warehouse facility. This tour will let you learn more about these two industry leaders and what goes into their treatments while exploring 263,000 square feet of interior improvements.


illumina Tour

illumina is a company based in San Diego that specializes in manufacturing and marketing life science tools and systems to analyze genetic variations and explore DNA on a new scale. The company recently expanded their facilities on their Gold Triangle campus which will house research on oncology, genetics, and reproductive health operations. Embark on this tour to find out more about how analyzing genetic functions can lead to more personalized medicines.


Ballast Point Brewing Company Tour

Since 1996, the Ballast Point Brewing Company has been a San Diego must-see with six different brewery locations in the San Diego area. Their Miramar location, which opened in 2014, features a 107,000 square feet brewery and tasting room. Guests will learn about their state-of-the art analytical equipment and special lab processes while tasting some of the best hand-crafted beer that San Diego has to offer.
