A Message from the 2025 ISPE Europe Annual Conference Chair

The 2025 ISPE Europe Annual Conference will take place from Monday, 12 May to Wednesday, 14 May 2025 in London, United Kingdom. Participants will be able to attend in person or virtually. Heather Watson, Director, TenTenTen Consulting Limited, will serve as the 2025 ISPE Europe Annual Conference Chair. Below, Heather shares her personal insights on what attendees can look forward to at the upcoming conference.

Heather has been a member of the ISPE Europe Annual Conference Planning Committee for several years and felt honored to have been approached by ISPE to chair the conference in 2025, which is being held in her hometown of London. It is going to be another great conference with excellent speakers, including representatives from several Regulatory bodies such as Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA). The conference will bring together pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical professionals from all levels of the industry – from students and emerging leaders to the most senior executives in pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain operations, medical device companies, equipment and services organizations, and global regulatory agencies.

Conference sessions will commence on Monday, 12 May, with a series of exciting and powerful keynote messages delivered by pharmaceutical industry executives and regulators, followed by a variety of workshops on topics such as quality and regulatory; integration, innovation and advancing pharmaceutical quality (APQ™); Drug Shortages; Digital transformation and GAMP®; and substances of concern and sustainability. There will also be a general session on quality risk management (QRM) ICH Q9 implementation and regulatory input so there will be something of interest for everyone that attends.

There will also be general sessions on drug shortages and disaster recovery. The session on disaster recovery will be presented from the perspective of man-made disasters (e.g., war) and natural disasters (e.g., flooding) and will be presented by experts that have experienced such atrocities in real life and is predicted to be a very powerful and potentially emotional session. It will consist of presentations followed by a question-and-answer session where attendees will be able to ask questions in the room or online if attending virtually.

The second and third days of sessions will feature with more excellent keynote sessions, leading into the concurrent technical sessions, which are spread across five tracks:

Towards the end of the final day, there will be several regulatory-focused sessions on topics such as regulations around PFAS and shaping the future of pharmaceutical regulations with insights from an expert GMP Inspector with MHRA.

The conference will provide an abundance of opportunities to grow and build professional and personal networks. The networking breaks held in the Exhibition Hall will provide great opportunities to talk with industry professionals who are making the industry more efficient, productive, and sustainable. Attendees will also see and hear some great ideas by interacting with the exhibitors. Attendees are encouraged to take the opportunity to chat with them—don’t forget to participate in the giveaway game that will be taking place in the Exhibition Hall as well.

Those who attend the conference in person will be able to participate in the Networking Dinner on the evening of Tuesday, 13 May, which is another great opportunity to expand professional networks.

Prior to the conference starting, the 2025 ISPE International Emerging Leaders Hackathon will take place on Saturday, 10 May and Sunday, 11 May. After the conference has ended, there will be two days of ISPE training courses, ending on Friday, 16 May.

The conference provides an excellent opportunity to share experiences, as well as discuss interpretations, challenges, and possible solutions for compliant implementation of new regulations. Attendees are welcome to ask questions during panel discussions and question-and-answer sessions. They are also encouraged to interact with presenters and peers following these discussions.

The pharmaceutical industry is diverse, ranging from ATMPs to generics. While the challenges and priorities are different for every company, the conference can help anyone stay on track with tackling trends that will be key for the pharmaceutical industry. These trends are necessary to ensure long-term sustainability—not only from a business perspective but also in terms of compliance.

On behalf of ISPE, Heather invites pharmaceutical professionals to join her at the 2025 ISPE Europe Annual Conference in London. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of an excellent conference!
