On Wednesday, 4 December 2019, ISPE held its first-ever Executive Forum focused on Workforce of the Future issues impacting the pharmaceutical industry.  The Forum was an important milestone in the broader Workforce of the Future initiative being led by ISPE and McKinsey & Company in partnership with Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Forum (PMF) and Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Leadership Forum (GPMLF).

The event brought together approximately 50 senior-level leaders and stakeholders across the pharmaceutical industry in an engaging exploration of macro-level trends expected to have seismic impact on the global pharmaceutical operations workforce.  Discussion was focused on the challenges and opportunities for pharmaceutical manufacturers in the 4th Industrial Revolution  – including digitization, advanced analytics, robotics and automation – and their potential impact on workforce structure, skill sets, training and shortages, among other key issues. Overall, the Forum established a unique opportunity for industry leaders to discuss best practices, assess potential impact, and share approaches for preparing for near- and long-term workforce challenges.
