Nicholas M. Thomson, BSc (Hons), PhD, CChem, MRSC, AIChE, is Executive Director of Global Technology and UK Process Chemistry at Pfizer. As part of his current role, Nick leads Pfizer’s strategy for continuous development and manufacture of small-molecule APIs. He joined Pfizer UK in 1997 as a synthetic chemist in process research and development and moved to the US in 2011 as a member of the Chemical Research and Development department. He has led the UK Research API department and the Global Technology API line. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in environmental chemistry before completing a PhD in organic synthesis under Professor Gerry Pattenden at the University of Nottingham. He has been an ISPE member since 2012.
