  • CRA

    Critical Risk Assessment
  • Cracks

Fracture-type discontinuities characterized by a sharp tip and high ratio of length and width to opening displacement. A crack may not be detected with a stylus. A linear crack will produce a liquid penetrant indication during liquid penetration inspection, x-ray, or ultrasound.
  • CRADA

    Cooperative Research and Development Agreement
  • Craniosynostosis

A birth defect whereby an infant's skull bones are already fused at birth. Because this defect may interfere with the ability of the brain to grow normally, it is often necessary to operate on affected children.
  • Crash

(IEEE) The sudden and complete failure of a computer system or component.
  • Crater

A depression at the termination of a weld bead.
  • Crater Cracks

Cracks that form in the crater, or end, of the weld bead.
  • CRB (CBER)

    Clinical Review Branch (CBER)
  • CRC

    Cyclic Redundancy (Check) Code
  • CRC

Civil Rights Center (United States Department of Labor)
  • CRC

    Clinical Research Coordinator
  • CRCL

    Creatinine Clearance
  • CRCPD

Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors
  • CREB

    cAMP Response Element Binding (protein)
  • Creep

A time-dependent permanent deformation that occurs under stress levels below the yield stress.
  • Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease

    Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease
  • Crevice Corrosion

Localized corrosion of a metal surface at, or immediately adjacent to, an area that is shielded from full exposure to the environment because of close proximity between the metal and the surface of another material. Areas where the oxide layer can break down can also sometimes be the result of the way systems or components are designed, for example under gaskets, in sharp re-entrant corners or associated with incomplete weld penetration or overlapping surfaces. To function as a corrosion site, a crevice has to be of sufficient width to permit entry of the corrodent, but sufficiently narrow to ensure the corrodent remains stagnant.
  • Crevice Corrosion

A type of localized corrosion in stainless steel that occurs when a solid or semi-solid adheres to or lies on the stainless steel surface in the presence of an electrolyte. Pitting may occur.
  • CRF

    Case Report Form
  • CRF

    Chronic Renal Failure
  • CRIS

    Clinical Research Information System (NIH)
  • CRISP

Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects (database) (NIH)
  • CRIT

    Corrosive Reactive Ignitable Toxic Criteria
  • Critères d'acceptation (IEEE)

  • Critical

(ICH Q7) Describes a process step, process condition, test requirement, or other relevant parameter or item that must be controlled within predetermined criteria to ensure that the API meets its specification.
