Mapp Biopharmaceutical, Inc.
Director, Antibody Discovery
I received my PhD from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX progressing to an Assistant Professor at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA. My career as an academic researcher spanned 14 years, during which time I specialized in viral antigen engineering, protein expression, purification and protein crystallography. Recently I accepted a position at Mapp Biopharmaceutical, Inc., located in San Diego, CA USA. I now currently direct the Antibody Discovery group at Mapp Biopharmaceutical, Inc. At Mapp, my work is centered around engineering the viral protein reagents required to properly sort B cells and the downstream characterization of therapeutic monoclonal antibody candidates. My most recent work focused on the isolation and characterization of broadly neutralizing monoclonal antibodies targeting the ebolavirus glycoprotein from a human survivor of the 2014-16 Ebola virus outbreak. The antibodies identified from the aforementioned studies are currently being used to develop a next generation immunotherapeutic cocktail targeting ebolaviruses.
