Vincent E. McCurdy, PhD

Vince McCurdy is the Senior Director of Pfizer’s Operational Excellence group in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is based in Groton, Connecticut. He currently manages a global function charged with continually improving pharmaceutical sciences business processes, workflows and knowledge management. Additional responsibilities include leading root cause investigations, decision analysis and strategic planning efforts. His team is responsible for training, coaching on the use of various continuous improvements methodologies, e.g. QRM, Lean Sigma, Project Management, that support improving quality, reducing costs and cycle times across work streams. He is also responsible for developing and implementing strategies to efficiently obtain process understanding and apply principles of Quality by Design to the Pfizer development portfolio.

Vince has held R&D management positions in solids and parenteral formulations and process development, device design, analytical methods development and project management. In addition, he directed drug product technical support for manufacturing of Pfizer sterile products plant. His interests have included bio-performance enhancement, dosage form stability, risk management, knowledge management, pediatric drug delivery, technology transfer and the use of statistical based experimentation and analysis.

Vince received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island and Ph.D. in Industrial & Physical Pharmacy from Purdue University. His professional memberships include Sigma Xi, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, ISPE and PDA.
