Thomas Warf as a Federal Employee is the Director of the Division of Manufacturing, Facilities and Engineering in the Biomedical Advancement Authority Research and Development Authority (BARDA) in the Office of the Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Thomas has been with the HHS\ASPR\BARDA Pandemic Influenza Program since 2006. As Director, Thomas provides leadership for the Division of Manufacturing, Facilities and Engineering Division and technical consulting on the development and commercial scale manufacturing and facilities of influenza vaccines, CBRN Medical Countermeasures and antiviral drugs. Thomas received his BS in Chemistry from Furman University. Thomas has over 30 years of experience in the vaccine, biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical industry. He has been involved in the manufacture of vaccines, sterile drug products and solid and liquid drug products. Tom worked for Merck & Co. for 25 years in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Biological Manufacturing Engineering Services. In addition to production support as a Senior Technical Advisor at Vaccine Manufacturing. He also worked with the Merck Quality staff in preparing for FDA/EMA inspections and preparing responses and corrections to Merck facilities. As a consultant Thomas has worked for Glaxo Smith Kline (PA), Chiron Corporation (CA), Amgen, Inc.(RI) and Wyeth BioPharma (Ireland). In addition, he is a member of the ISPE and was an Instructor for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Biotechnology Seminars and a member of the Bioprocess Equipment Committee (ASME BPE Standard) of the ASME.
