Thomas Leitch

An experienced biotech leader, Tom has brought his passion for serving patients to a variety of roles in companies both large and small. He has held leadership positions in Quality, Manufacturing, and Technical Operations for Merck, Alexion, and now bluebird bio. In his current role as Vice President of Vector Manufacturing with bluebird, Tom has responsibilities for building out the company’s gene therapy manufacturing network to support growing clinical demand as well as multiple commercial launches in the coming years. bluebird recently selected North Carolina’s Research Triangle as the site for a 125,000 ft2 manufacturing facility that will serve as the core of the company’s vector supply capabilities, enabling these transformative therapies to reach patients around the world.
