Sarah O'Keeffe earned her BSc (Chemistry) and PhD in Organic Chemistry from University College Cork, Ireland, and in 2007 joined Lilly’s small molecule development organization in Indianapolis as a Research Scientist. In 2010, she returned to Ireland to work at the Kinsale API manufacturing site. She held several roles in Technical Services/Manufacturing Sciences, spanning small molecule commercialization and commercial activities, including responsibilities for start-up of the new Small Volume Continuous facility. She rejoined SMDD in 2017 and is currently the Vice President for Synthetic Molecule Design and Development organization (SMDD). She is accountable for the process and product development of the small molecule and synthetic peptide portfolio. She also has accountability for key capability initiatives which include continuous manufacturing for API and drug products.
