Richard Aulenbach, President, founded RPA Engineering in August 1989. The company provides engineering consulting services for the pharmaceutical/biotech, industrial, power/utility, university, and health care markets, as well as commissioning and validation, project management, and energy management services. Additionally, RPA provides on-site client services, placing employees in the client’s office to support project-based work. The company has five locations and 100 employees.

Rick began his career in Pittsburgh, PA at Alcoa’s corporate headquarters. Later, he entered the power generation design business at Gilbert Associates, Inc., in Reading, PA where he worked on fossil and nuclear power plant projects around the world.

Rick holds a MBA from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, Rick attended Harvard Business School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His vast professional affiliations include currently on Board of Directors, International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers, and Association of Iron and Steel Technology.

Rick has served as an adjunct instructor of Fluid Mechanics, at Penn State University, Berks campus concurrent with running his company. In addition, he has been a contributing author to three books for EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) which serve as technical guidelines to US electric power generation utilities. He has also authored several articles for leading engineering publications, and holds one patent.

His philanthropic endeavors include President, Board of Advisors, Prospectus Berco, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring people with disabilities or other special needs to lead meaningful lives; board member and energy management taskforce manager for the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers; Chairman of the Penn State Berks Engineering Industrial Advisory Council; committee member for Penn State/St. Joseph Hospital foundation, Keynote Speaker at First-Year Engineering Conference at University of Pittsburgh, Swanson School of Engineering, Virginia Tech and University of Pennsylvania.
