Potomac Photonics
President and CEO
Mike Adelstein believes that the only way to revive manufacturing is through innovation and education. Under his leadership, Potomac Photonics has become a hub of innovation and technology, focusing on enabling clients to develop and bring their micro products to the market. With an impressive array of tools, Mike's market driven strategy has been successful at creating fabrication capabilities with a focus on size, speed and cost for medical device, biotech, electronic, aerospace and other industries. Mike graduated from UMBC with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He later went on to receive his M.S. in Technology Management, and has earned his CPA. In 2013, he moved Potomac Photonics to bwtech@UMBC in order to have the company located in a tech-centric environment that is optimized for collaboration and recruitment. The facilities include an Innovation Lab, focused on developing next generation manufacturing processes, and production areas that run customer projects, both in prototyping and high volume. He also implemented the Education-Manufacturing Initiative which provides instructors and students with subsidized micro manufacturing services to support their research. Finally, he has a passion for workforce training with an emphasis on preparing non-college degree employees for high-skilled positions in the engineering field.
