Matt Darrah is currently the Sr. Manger of the Systems and Applications Engineering group at BioMarin Pharmaceuticals. He is responsible for the Novato site GMP qualification activities, OSiSoft Pi historian infrastructure, and the Asset Lifecycle Management group. He has 20+ years’ experience in lean based capital project design and execution, manufacturing engineering support, and asset lifecycle systems. Prior to BioMarin, Matt spent 8 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing performing lean space and system design, reliability engineering and lead the installation and integration of the Pi Historian at the plant. Additionally, he was the dry etch and deposition equipment engineering lead during his 11-year run in semiconductors. During that time, he performed all aspects of new technology introductions required to keep pace in that industry. He also led his area’s transition to be an integrated Toyota supplier, driving the TPM culture change. Outside of work, Matt enjoys working to mentor and talk to young professionals and college students. He will be mentoring in this year’s Medical Make-a-Thon hosted by the Biomedical Engineering Society at University of California, Davis, for the 4th year.
