Manuel Pereira Remelhe is a Principal Expert at Bayer AG responsible for innovations related to modeling and simulation of manufacturing plants and processes. He leads the cross-divisional working group Virtual Production and Supply Chain Modeling, and he fosters digitalization and smart data applications. He is a chemical engineer with hands-on experience in dynamic process simulation, data-analytics, process control, and operational excellence.
Manuel prepared and coordinated the SPIRE project CONSENS (Integrated Control and Sensing for Sustainable Operation of Flexible Intensified Processes) which is a successor of the FP7 project F³ Factory (Flexible, Fast and Future Production Processes).
He believes that digital technologies combining data-driven and knowledge-based methods will help the process industry to holistically understand complex manufacturing environments and to design and operate processes in an efficient and much more sustainable way.
