Luciano Tavares embarked on his career in 1991 at a small engineering company in Brazil, where he worked as a Commissioning and Qualification Engineer. His journey led him to J&J in Brazil, after which he joined NNE Pharmaplan in Denmark. He has served as a project manager on various international projects, including GSK Bio, Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly, and Fujifilm.

In 2010, when NNE Pharmaplan established in Brazil, Luciano relocated to Sao Paulo to eventually become the Business Development Director for Emerging Markets. In 2018, he transitioned to Fluor Corporation, where he became Senior Director of Business Development in Greenville, South Carolina. In January 2024, he started leading the global Project Development Studio, overseeing Life Sciences front-end studies for clients, and supporting a $3 billion business unit. Luciano manages a diverse team of over 60 seasoned and talented process engineers and architects from various countries. With a sales background, he also serves as the Global Account Manager for Eli Lilly and Takeda.

His extensive involvement with the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) spans over two decades. He has participated in annual meetings as a supplier/vendor, speaker, and representative of the Brazilian Chapter advocating for knowledge in the pharmaceutical and biotech fields. His vision aligns with ISPE’s strategic plan, focusing on shaping the future of the global pharmaceutical industry through innovation, workforce development, and quality leadership, making sure that the industry continues to meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

His ISPE engagement includes Director of ISPE Brazil; Chairman of the Biotechnology Committee, Member of the Board for GAMP Committee; Member of the Board of Good Engineering Practices Committee; Consultative Director; Speaker for the Washington, DC Annual Meeting; and innumerous times as a speaker in the local Brazilian chapter about on a variety of industry-critical topics.
