President
Professor Cichutek is a biochemist and extra-ordinary Professor of Biochemistry at the Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany. He completed his studies of chemistry and earned a doctoral degree in biochemistry, both at the University of Münster.

He is the current President of the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute.

In addition to his role at PEI, Cichutek was part of or chaired numerous commissions and councils in Germany and by EMA, WHO.

Furthermore, he has been a member in a number of editorial boards of scientific journals including the Journal of Gene Medicine.

His research activities focus on the following areas:
• biomedicines including advanced therapy medicinal products and DNA/live vector vaccines,
• gene therapy (e.g. viral vectors, stem cell gene transfer),
• retrovirology with the emphasis on HIV/SIV immunopathogenesis and AIDS.

Prof. Cichutek is the author of more than 150 publications in international scientific journals.
