Katherine (Katie) Leitch currently serves as the Vice President of Global Technical Operations at Seres Therapeutics which includes responsibilities for Manufacturing Science and Technology, Global Engineering and Maintenance, Global Validation, and Global Environmental Health and Safety. Katie has been a key manufacturing network leader at Seres through the FDA approval and launch of the first oral microbiome product, VOWST™, which is indicated to prevent the recurrence of C. difficile infection for adults 18 years and older.
Prior to joining Seres in March 2022, Katie was Senior Director of Global Technical Operations – Product Lifecycle Management and Projects at Alexion supporting both internal and external commercial manufacturing with a key focus on commercial tech transfers. Katie worked for Alexion from 2014 to 2022 and also held the positions of Director of Plant and Process Engineering for an internal manufacturing site and Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) for North America Manufacturing.
Prior to her time at Alexion, Katie worked for Merck for 14 years with increasing levels of responsibility primarily in technical support roles for vaccine manufacturing. The manufacturing experiences at Merck included working on three vaccine manufacturing facility start-up projects as well as supporting multiple licensed vaccine manufacturing facilities.
Katie was a co-founder for the Boston Area ISPE Women in Pharma (WIP) Subcommittee and served on the Board of Directors for the Boston Area ISPE Chapter from 2019 to 2023. Katie earned both her BS and MS engineering degrees from Virginia Tech.
