Karen O’Driscoll is currently Executive Director, External Quality Assurance – API as Merck. Karen joined Merck in December 2016, and in this role she has global quality oversight of all API CMOs for the Merck supply chain.

Karen has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and health products industry. She started her career with Janssen Pharmaceuticals in Cork, Ireland in process development, where she also held technical and site quality roles supporting the manufacture and global supply of APIs. Karen also held subsequent roles of increasing responsibility within J&J as Site Quality Director for Ortho McNeil Raritan, NJ and Janssen Geel, Belgium and Senior Director for Janssen Supplier Quality and subsequently J&J Supplier Quality. In 2015 Karen joined NorthStar Healthcare (private label for McKesson Corp) as their Quality Director with responsibility for the oversight of their global CMO network supplying generic drug product to the USA market.

Karen holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science (leading to Qualified Person) from Royal College of Surgeons Dublin and a B.Sc. with Honors in Organic Chemistry from University College Cork. She lives in Cork, Ireland.
