Juan Colberg, PhD

Dr. Juan Colberg is Sr. Director of Technology & Innovation within Pfizer’s Worldwide Research & Development organization. In his current role, he leads the Pharmaceutical Sciences API/Chemical technology efforts to evaluate novel ‘platform’ technologies suitable for small and large scale manufacturing, in collaboration with academic institutions and technology companies across the globe. A former co-Chair of the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute Pharmaceutical Roundtable, Dr. Colberg is currently the Pfizer Green Chemistry Program Leader. During his career he has been very active in green chemistry initiatives such as development of the green solvent selection tool, greener reagent grids and green chemistry metrics. In 2002, he was part of the team awarded the EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Award. Dr. Colberg graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a PhD in Organic Chemistry.
