John has a BE in electrical engineering from University College Cork, Ireland, a diploma in project management from the CIT, a BSc (Hons) in astronomy and planetary science from the Open University, and an MSc in management from the Smurfit t Business School. He is currently pursuing a PhD in business information systems at Cork University Business School, UCC. John is the Managing Director of Douglas Control and Automation and lectures part time at the Munster Technical University in automation. He has published three books on European and Japanese missions to the International Space Station. His research interests include application of innovation (technology and techniques) in the field of automation projects in the pharmaceutical sector. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He is a Project Management Professional and a three times TÜV certified safety professional.
