Dr. Jacqueline Elbonne is Sr. Vice President, Global Quality at Merck & Co., Inc. She is responsible for overseeing the quality and compliance of global manufacturing operations for Merck’s medicines and vaccines for both the human and animal health businesses. Her responsibilities also include global quality oversight of external supplier’s and manufacturing operations as well as research & commercialization activities for the development, approval and launch of new pharmaceuticals, vaccines, & biologics.<br><br>
Jackie moved to the United States in 2001 and joined Schering-Plough to lead analytical development activities for their respiratory commercialization programs. In 2004, Jackie moved to Quality where she became Vice-President of Pharmaceutical Sciences Quality. In this role she led the Consent Decree activities for the Research Institute until its dissolution in 2007. In 2008 she was appointed Vice-President of Global Research Quality for the entire Schering-Plough Research Institute. In 2009, Schering-Plough merged with Merck & Co., Inc and Jackie was appointed as Merck’s Vice President of Research & Commercialization Quality. Her responsibilities later expanded to include Global CMC Regulatory Affairs as well as quality operations for the Americas, Asia Pacific and the Consumer Care business.<br><br>
Jackie holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Chemistry and Pharmacology, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, both from the University of Liverpool, England. She joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1991 and began her career at Fisons PLC as an analytical chemist working on novel compounds for the treatment of respiratory disorders in pre-clinical/clinical development. Following multiple mergers and acquisitions, Jackie then took on varying roles of increasing responsibility and leadership within analytical sciences within Rhone Poulenc Rorer and Aventis prior to joining Schering-Plough.
