Daniel Iampietro, PhD

Dr. Daniel Iampietro received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware. After finishing graduate school, he joined Merck and Co. Inc. where he has nearly 20 years of experience in numerous research and development environments and roles. He spent the first 8 years in various drug substance development positions. Much of this time was spent in operations where he managed a clinical pilot plant used for the manufacturing of small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Dr Iampietro then spent 2 years on an international assignment in Ireland where he was the technical lead for a high-volume product and was responsible for all aspects of its manufacture. Following his API roles, he transitioned into an operations role where he spent nearly 9 years managing a clinical drug product development pilot plant. In addition to this operations role, he took on significant responsibilities for the Safety and Quality Compliance performance of the site’s clinic supply organizations. Over the last year, he has transitioned into a capital team leader position with responsibility for a large cross functional team tasked with designing and constructing new multi-modality drug product formulation and analytical facilities.
