Ahmed Zidan has over 16 years of experience in the industry, Academia and FDA as a formulation, manufacturing, and strategic leader across a broad range of roles in development, process, and manufacturing of complex dosage forms. Ahmed is currently a senior staff fellow at the Office of Testing and Research of Center of Drug Evaluation and Research of FDA. Ahmed is leading the formulation and manufacturing translational research on complex dosage forms such as transdermal and oral drug products at OTR. He has made significant contribution in identifying the CQAs of drug products manufactured by emergent technologies such as 3D printing and continuous manufacturing. In addition to leading various research groups at FDA, Ahmed has led multiple cross-agency initiatives. For example, he has been involved in the development and implementation of Quality Risk Management, the Standardized Root Cause Analysis programs and innovative graphical analysis approaches to develop characterization matrices of complex dosage forms.

Prior to joining FDA in 2015, Ahmed was an Associate Professor of pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy at Zagazig University and King Abdulaziz University was the Outstanding pharmacy Educator in Pharmaceutics in 2014. Ahmed holds MS and PhD. degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) from Zagazig University, Egypt in collaboration with Howard University, Washington DC. Ahmed published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in these fields
