Senior Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety
Deborah Donovan is a seasoned senior executive with over 35 years of experience, 20 in the pharmaceutical industry. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Environment, Health & Safety at Moderna Therapeutics. In her role, she is responsible for EHS performance, including environmental sustainability, delivering on the company’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2030. Before joining Modena, she served as the Senior Vice President of EHS at Takeda. Her responsibilities included managing and reporting EHS risks and leading the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy to achieve carbon neutrality in operations. Prior to Takeda, Deborah was Global Head EHS and Business Continuity for Novartis AG, implementing energy management programs, leading company-wide implementation of EHS digital systems, and delivering EHS risk reduction. Deborah also spent several years at Amgen, Inc., where she had multiple leadership roles at the Rhode Island Manufacturing site including Site EHS Head, Director of Risk management and Director of Maintenance. She was recognized for her contributions to EHS performance winning the Amgen, Inc. Best Plant Award for 2006. Deborah holds a Master of Business Administration from California State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University.
