Head of Institute Surveillance
Ronald Bauer has been the Head of the Institute Surveillance of the Austrian Medicines Agency since 2014. His responsibilities cover all surveillance activities of the Austrian medicinal market (authorisation of pharmaceutical companies, inspections of all GxPs, medical devices, tissues, blood and cells as well as market surveillance of medical devices, medicinal products, blood, tissues and cells as well as combating illegal activities in the medicinal market). In 2004 Ronald Bauer joined the then inspection unit as an inspector. In the OECD GLP working group, he led the international development of the GLP guideline on "The application of GLP principles to computerised systems". He is currently chairing the EMA working group established to revise EU GMP Chapter 4 and participates in the EMA working group established to revise EU GP Annex 11. Ronald Bauer is lecturer in a postgraduate course at the Medical University of Vienna. He holds a degree in technical chemistry, specialising in biochemistry, from the Graz University of Technology.
