  • Track 1 - "Operational Excellence"

    Improving Operational Excellence (OpEx) is consistently a top priority for  most major biopharma companies; but each organization can approach OpEx differently. In this education track we take broad look at how OpEx initiatives are applied across multiple areas of biopharma companies and some methods that make these programs successful. Over the course of the day we will cover topics such as:

    • Applying OpEx principles to an engineering project
    • Commonly used Tools and Techniques
    • The role OpEx plays in the total cost of quality
    • How Robotic Process Automation can increase efficiencies
    • Project Management for OpEx initiatives

    Presentations will be topical and followed by open panel discussions and case studies.

  • Track 2 - "Strategies to Manage Aging Pharmaceutical Facilities"

    Today’s pharmaceutical facilities were designed with a 30+ year lifecycle in mind. However, the facility, process, and lab design of thirty years ago is very different from contemporary manufacturing requirements. As regulatory expectations increase year-on-year, the budgets to operate and maintain facilities continue to shrink in an effort to maintain competitiveness- especially on off-patent products. Moreover, capital programs do not have the funding levels that were in place years ago and, as a result, site operating teams have been forced to choose between funding baseline capital investments to maintain current operation or funding strategic investments for securing future business.

    “Strategies for Managing Aging Pharmaceutical Facilities” will explore these challenges and offer strategies to contend with meeting regulatory expectations while operating a facility designed and started up many years ago. Practical knowledge will be shared that can be brought back and put into action.
