Pfizer Consumer Health Manufacturing facility in Suzhou China was a greenfield construction project that started in 2015 and delivered its first commercial batch in 2018. To reinforce Pfizer’s global corporate commitment on the environment, the facility included all good engineering practices on energy and water conservation, and incorporated comprehensive environmentally sustainable design features. The facility received LEED Platinum certification as well as the ISPE 2018 Facility of the Year Award on Sustainability. Paul Chiu, Project Director from Global Engineering, will introduce the project’s sustainability design features, its journey from design through construction and startup in a country facing serious environmental challenges, its process on evaluating various design options, its partnership with third party investor on renewable energy, its design journey working entirely with a local design company, and a discussion on the cost of sustainable design.

Speaker: Paul Chiu, Director, Global Engineering, Pfizer, Inc.
