Abstract:

The integration of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Digital Twin applications offers a powerful approach to optimizing and stabilizing yield in fermenter operations. By enabling real-time component quantification within the fermenter through PAT and interfacing with a Digital Twin, this solution facilitates data-driven process adjustments to enhance efficiency and performance. The spectral data collected by the RAMAN PAT analyser is processed within the PAT application, where chemometric models determine the component attributes present in the fermenter. The component attributes and fermenter operating parameters are transmitted to a Digital Twin Platform, which predicts future conditions within the fermenter and determines the optimal substrate injection rate to maximize yield based on predicted conditions. The model’s recommended set point can then be utilized for substrate injection control, ensuring a more adaptive and efficient fermentation process.
