Synopsis:
In upstream and downstream processing, single-use components have been highly successful in reducing manufacturing costs and have become the solution of choice for many pharma applications in recent years. The clarification process has been the focus of technical developments in recent years, with single-use options now available for various technologies but equipping the biopharma clarification process with suitable single-use separation technologies poses complex challenges. In choosing the best equipment strategy, several goals must be kept in mind, including the product yield, cell viability, safety of the technology in terms of biocontainment, space, and flexibility in adapting to the rapidly changing tasks in research and production.
The presentation will highlight GEA’s single-use disc stack separator as a new option for pharma research or small production facilities in achieving productivity and safety of their setup with a solution that is reliable and versatile to operate.
