From Ambition to Action: Real-World Energy Reduction in Practice

Complimentary
Learning Level: Intermediate
Time: 1100 - 1200 ET
Session Length: 1 hour

Energy efficiency is no longer optional for pharmaceutical manufacturers—it is a business-critical priority tied to sustainability, cost control, and regulatory expectations. The ISPE Sustainability Community of Practice (COP) was launched to accelerate this transformation, and this webinar builds on that momentum by turning guidance into action.

This session will showcase real-world challenges, successes, and lessons learned from leading pharma companies and contributing authors of the ISPE Sustainability Guide. Attendees will gain practical strategies for implementing the guide’s principles, understand the business impact of sustainability initiatives, and learn how to overcome cultural and technical barriers.

Presenters from AstraZeneca, EECO2, Takeda, and Gilead Sciences will share diverse perspectives—none claiming a single solution, but all committed to progress. This is not theory; it is actionable insight from the front lines of energy efficiency.

Format: 60 minutes: four 10-minute presentations followed by 20 minutes of Q&A.

Key Themes:

  1. Takeda: ISPE Sustainability COP Chair – Introduction to the Sustainability Guide
  2. EECO2: Culture and mindset for rapid, sustained progress – a consultant’s view
  3. AstraZeneca: Delivering action at site level in a large biopharma facility
  4. Gilead/Kite Pharma: Verification of results – building confidence for future initiatives

This webinar is proposed as part of a series designed to help ISPE members translate the Sustainability Guide into measurable business outcomes.
