Project AHEAD supports Takeda's net-zero goals for 2035 (operations) and 2040 (value chain). Its centerpiece is a world-first industrial heat pump producing high-pressure steam (11 bar, >200°C) from 100 percent renewable electricity and natural refrigerants, replacing fossil-fuel boilers at Takeda's largest site—cutting CO₂ emissions up to 80 percent (~1,600 tons annually). Recovering waste heat, it delivers CO₂-free steam over seven months a year as a full utility-scale system, built and operated safely without disrupting production.
