What are some of the challenges/pain points facing the industry that the conference will help to address?

I’m very much looking forward to attending this year’s 2025 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo. I wanted to share a couple of observations about the meeting and hope to see you there as we tackle jointly some of the challenges and pain points in the industry.

Some of the challenges in particular…first regulatory complexity. It’s a theme that’s constantly been at this conference over the years and there’s no meeting out that that really does it better. So bringing regulators and industry together to understand some of the key challenges that we can jointly tackle so that we can drive towards harmonization – drive towards best practices to accelerate timelines to approval and to advance and extend therapies.

What themes are you most looking forward to this year?

Innovation and transformation is a big theme this year and I’m very much looking forward to some of the tracks that are capturing this. Really focusing on barriers to overcoming adoption in technologies – things like artificial intelligence, data analytics, personalized medicine – these are the big ticket items and there are great presentations lined up this year to tackle that.

And then lastly, areas of opportunity to drive efficiency such as cost management and efficiency – really identifying optimization opportunities across companies, leveraging best practices, learning from each other so that we can continue to improve.

What hot topics are you most looking forward to seeing?

A couple of hot topics that I’m looking forward to seeing this year: Again, I mentioned artificial intelligence and machine learning is one key theme. Really identifying ways to transform drug development, drug discovery, clinical trials, and even manufacturing investigations. How we can continue to learn about our processes so that we can enable faster delivery for our patients.

Leveraging real world evidence to accelerate regulatory decisions for improving patient outcomes is another theme.

And then lastly, my passion area: advanced therapies, personalized medicine, ATMPS. The cell and gene space has so much opportunity and we continue to learn every year more and more about the best practices amongst our different companies but also amongst regulators too so that we can continue to rapidly adopt some of these critical treatments.

What are you most looking forward to at this year’s event?

What I’m most looking forward to getting out of this conference, and I think you will as well, is really continuing to build relationships with key partners and key colleagues across the different companies as well as with regulators. And again, some of the themes that I highlighted are going to be areas of opportunity that I think will be most prominent.

  • Accelerating drug development is always a passion area for the folks at this meeting. We’re again sharing best practices but identifying things that can ultimately resonate not only with us here in the US but globally as well as with regulators around the world.
  • Enhancing compliance is always one of the great lessons that this meeting brings to the table. Helping us identify emerging trends; identifying key compliance trends that all companies need to be aware of and stay ahead of so that they can continue to safely provide therapies for patients.
  • And then lastly, driving the competitive edge. Really, this meeting offers an opportunity to benchmark, to stay connected to different colleagues around the world, and understand where the latest and greatest opportunities exist for our industry.

So with that said, I hope to see you there as the 2025 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo in October.
