ISPE has also recently introduced AI-powered avatar technology to enhance the learning experience within our On Demand platform. These AI Avatars deliver content in a more engaging, interactive, and accessible format—supporting learners with clear explanations and improved instructional delivery.
The ISPE Academy: Structured Certificates with Practical Depth
At the center of ISPE’s educational ecosystem is ISPE Academy, which offers six structured professional development certificates. Each program is designed to build depth in a specialized area:
- Biopharmaceutical Essentials: An intermediate to advanced program covering drug substance manufacturing, facility design, aseptic processing, and regulatory considerations (10.9 ISPE continuing education units (CEUs))
- GAMP® Essentials: Training in foundational good manufacturing practice (GMP) principles for computerized systems, including risk-based validation and data integrity, aligned with GAMP® 5 (Second Edition) (6.7 CEUs)
- Good Engineering Practices: Intermediate-level instruction on lifecycle-based project delivery in regulated environments, with emphasis on compliance and effective execution (2.8 CEUs)
- GMP Refresher: A customizable overview of current good manufacturing practices and quality systems, with the option to select two modules from eleven GMP Fundamentals courses (0.36 CEUs)
- Pharmaceutical Water Systems: In-depth training on designing, operating, and maintaining pharmaceutical water systems in alignment with global expectations (2.8 CEUs)
- Quality Management Maturity (QMM): A program that builds the capabilities to advance quality systems beyond compliance (8.1 CEUs)
Each certificate program awards a certificate of completion and ISPE CEUs to highlight competency and support career advancement. Additional certificate programs are forthcoming as well, including programs focused on quality essentials, quality control laboratory testing, and technology transfer.
Individual Training Courses: Build a Personalized Learning Path
ISPE also offers a broad collection of individual courses covering specialized subjects such as cleaning validation, HVAC system design, water systems, quality risk management, data integrity, commissioning and qualification, Quality by Design (QbD), and more. These courses are available as online live instruction, self-paced modules, in-person experiences, and custom onsite programs for teams. The flexibility helps learners address immediate skill needs while supporting long-term professional development. Additionally, a new micro-learning format is coming soon related to GAMP®.
The ISPE Training Advantage: Practical, Relevant, Applied
ISPE’s training philosophy emphasizes more than technical knowledge—it helps learners apply best practices in their daily environments. Courses incorporate case studies, real-world examples, and references to ISPE’s widely used Baseline® Guides, Good Practice Guides, and Product Quality Lifecycle Implementation (PQLI®) Guides. Instruction is led by industry experts who bring firsthand experience from across the pharmaceutical lifecycle.
Participants benefit from:

Supporting Every Stage of the Learning Journey
ISPE organizes its courses into Fundamental, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, guiding learners toward the right depth of content based on their experience and objectives.
Examples of Fundamental-Level Courses
These courses provide foundational knowledge for those new to topics such as GMPs, auditing, clean-in-place systems, water generation, computerized system regulations, oral solid dosage manufacturing, and large molecule therapeutics. Many include references to key ISPE Guides such as the ISPE Baseline® Guide: Water and Steam Systems (Third Edition), the ISPE GAMP® 5 Guide (Second Edition), and the ISPE Baseline® Guide: Oral Solid Dosage Forms (Third Edition).
Examples of Intermediate-Level Courses
Intermediate offerings expand understanding in areas such as process control, biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations, project management, process analytical technology implementation, GMPs for active pharmaceutical ingredients, facility design, commissioning and qualification, quality risk management, QbD implementation, process validation, data integrity, operational excellence, quality systems, pre-approval inspections, corrective action and preventive action and root cause analysis, and quality management maturity. These programs often include hands-on workshops and detailed case studies.
Examples of Advanced-Level Courses
Advanced courses focus on specialization in areas like pharmaceutical water system qualification and microbial control, aseptic processing and Annex 1 expectations, advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) manufacturing, and advanced chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) considerations for biopharmaceuticals and cell and gene therapies.
