Under the leadership of Martín Orcoyen, ISPE Argentina Affiliate President, the ISPE Argentina Affiliate was able to improve its engagement, resources, and community in 2025. Through strategic communication, new education and training programs, regional networking, and international visibility, the previously shrinking Affiliate has completely transformed. After 10 years of membership decline, the Affiliate has significantly increased its size, producing a 45 percent increase in membership over the last four years. This includes a notable rise in the involvement of students and recent graduates, including Argentina’s very first ISPE Student Chapter established at Universidad Argentina de la Empresa in 2024.
The Affiliate credits much of its growth and widening reach to the implementation of a customer relationship management platform as well as more strategic social media efforts, specifically through LinkedIn. By sending dedicated emails and segmented communications regarding key initiatives, the Affiliate has expanded its outreach to more than 6,000 individuals regionally. Meanwhile, the Affiliate focuses on sharing technical insights, educational resources, and upcoming events via LinkedIn. Through these efforts, its followers have grown more than 50 percent in the last two years, now totaling more than 3,000 followers.
Recently the ISPE Argentina Affiliate also launched a six-month educational initiative which included almost 70 hours of content for ISPE members to build their pharmaceutical knowledge. The program attracted 60 participants and 13 faculty members from multiple countries across Latin America.
To further expand their reach, the ISPE Argentina Affiliate joined forces with the ISPE Mexico Affiliate and the ISPE Brazil Affiliate in 2024 to organize the first ever ISPE in-person and virtual joint symposium hosted in Mexico City, Mexico. Bringing together biopharmaceutical leaders from across the globe to collaborate and share knowledge internationally, the ISPE LATAM Symposium garnered more than 60 live attendees and 200 virtual participants. This year, the second annual symposium took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 19–20 November. The 2025 event connected a global group of speakers and attendees from a wide array of countries to share ideas and propel innovation forward. Presentations regarding seven unique themes were given including sustainability, digital transformation, GAMP®, Pharma 4.0™, and more.
The ISPE Argentina Affiliate stands out for its innovation, collaboration, and determination. Despite being one of ISPE’s smaller Affiliates, the value of the ISPE Argentina Affiliate is immense. Regarding the Affiliate, Orcoyen shared, “The identity of an Affiliate emerges from the blend of the individual personalities of its members—not only those who are temporarily leading it, but every single person who chooses to be a part of the community. In the case of the ISPE Argentina Affiliate, that blend has a genuinely distinctive character. Our Affiliate brings together members not only from Argentina but also from Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru—professionals who live and carry out their work across different countries in the region. This geographic diversity gives our community a truly regional identity and enriches every discussion, project, and initiative we take on. Another defining aspect is how deeply we value diversity in all its forms: generational, disciplinary, and cultural. Our community includes senior experts with decades of good manufacturing practices experience, young professionals taking their first steps, and people with backgrounds ranging from engineering and pharmacy to biotechnology, quality, regulatory affairs, architecture, and more. That diversity is not only embraced but actively sought, and it is what allows us to build an identity that is authentically ours.”
