Meet Shanshan Liu
Shanshan Liu serves as Global Process Science and Regulator Director at Fedegari, where she leads the advancement of manufacturing systems for emerging and complex modalities and collaborates closely with global regulatory authorities. With a master’s degree in biochemical engineering from the University of Birmingham and a career spanning multiple continents, she brings a distinctly international perspective to her work. Over more than 20 years, she has held technical and consulting roles across major pharmaceutical organizations, including Novartis, and expanded her expertise into quality, compliance, and regulatory strategy, partnering with manufacturers and regulators worldwide to strengthen quality systems, address compliance risks, and support innovation in life sciences.

1. Please provide a brief description of your ISPE volunteer career.
I have been serving ISPE in a variety of volunteer roles over the past 15 years, starting with the ISPE Singapore Affiliate, where I have worked to strengthen our local community and to proactively foster closer collaboration across the APAC Affiliates. Over the past two years, I have had the honor of serving on the ISPE International Board of Directors as well as on the Board of ISPE China, helping to connect regional perspectives with our global vision. Professionally, I’m also an ISPE Qualified Instructor, giving trainings across six courses, ranging from ATMPs [KL2.1]to GMP audits. In addition, I have been actively involved in other initiatives such as ISPE Foundation, the ATMPs Community of Practice, and the Drug Shortages Initiative. What has kept me engaged all these years is the opportunity to give back to our community that has inspired my own professional journey and to help create opportunities for others to learn, connect, and make an impact.
2. Please provide a brief description of your industry experience.
My current role is the Global Process Science and Regulator Director at Fedegari, connecting science, technology, quality, and regulations. I have been part of the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry for more than two decades, building on a foundation in science and engineering through roles spanning R&D, process engineering, and process automation. My career has then evolved into quality compliance and regulatory, with a particular focus on autologous therapies. On a strategic level, I’m supporting the journey of medicines from development through to the supplier, to patients; helping to enhance the quality, affordability, and availability of medicinal products so that more patients can benefit from innovation.
3. Please briefly share the vision you see for ISPE's future, especially as it relates to our current strategic vision, pillars, and core values.
My vision for ISPE is simple: to ensure the wealth of knowledge, expertise, and innovation within our community is readily accessible to every member, regardless of the geographical location or experience level, everyone should be able to benefit from the collective expertise that makes ISPE so unique. By connecting you to the insights, experiences, and best practices that already exist within ISPE, we can accelerate professional development, knowledge advancement, and empower our members to drive meaningful impact within their organizations and our industry. Through collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence, we shape the future of pharma.
