The 2026 ISPE International Board of Directors Election provides members with the opportunity to help shape the future of the Society by voting for representatives to fill open seats on the International Board. The Board plays a critical role in establishing ISPE’s vision and mission, setting strategic priorities, and ensuring that operations align with ISPE policies, best practices, and applicable laws.

Participation in this process is appreciated, as the International Board represents the ideas and priorities that matter most to ISPE and its global community, including Affiliates, Chapters, committees, and professional networks.

1. Please briefly share the vision you see for ISPE's future, especially as it relates to our current strategic vision, pillars, and core values.

The long-term strength of ISPE depends on our ability to shape the environment in which our industry operates. That means deepening our relationship with regulators and government agencies, not only when guidance is needed, but when new ideas are being formed. I think, also, we will need to expand our work in Pharma 4.0™, not only by defining the model, but by helping companies implement them in real, practical ways. If we do this right, ISPE will not simply follow the curve; we will define it.

2. Please provide a brief description of your ISPE volunteer career.

I have been involved actively in ISPE over the past 7 to 8 years. I have played a leadership role in strengthening ISPE’s presence and strategic direction in Europe. I began by founding the Portugal Affiliate and later helped with the successful unification of the Spain Affiliate to create a stronger and collaborative Iberia Affiliate—an initiative driven by a belief that regional alignment amplifies global impact. I then advanced to serve as a Co-Chair and subsequent Chair of the European Affiliates Council, guiding the council through the two-year period of growth and modernization. In this role, I focused on expanding hands-on, practical training programs, elevating engagement with regulatory agencies, and building a more cohesive network of European Affiliates.

3. Please provide a brief description of your industry experience.

I have been in the industry for more than 35 years. I have built a career defined by technical depth and operational knowledge. I progressed from an early role in packaging, then maintenance, then operations, to a series of responsibilities in validation, and ultimately, an engineering leader. Throughout my career, I have led the design and construction of many manufacturing facilities and major production expansions; overseeing multidisciplinary teams and complex capital investments. My leadership has spanned a full lifecycle of pharmaceutical manufacturing, from concept and design to qualification, start-up, and operational readiness. This breadth of experience has equipped me with a strategic understanding of how to build high-performing plants, but most importantly, high-performing teams.
