The 2026 ISPE Europe Annual Conference in Copenhagen brought together professionals, innovators, and students from across the pharmaceutical ecosystem, creating a dynamic space for collaboration and forward-thinking dialogue. For emerging professionals, events like this are more than just educational; they are transformational. They offer a rare opportunity to step outside the classroom and into the real-world conversations shaping the future of the industry. Among those attendees was Noah Doremus, a Pharmaceutical Engineering Apprentice at the University of Bordeaux and an ISPE France Affiliate Student Member, who experienced firsthand how global engagement can influence both perspective and career trajectory.

Noah is actively involved in several ISPE technical Communities of Practice (CoPs), including API, Artificial Intelligence, ATMPs, Pharma 4.0™, Pharmaceutical Compounding, Project Management, Sterile Products Processing, and Sustainability. His broad engagement reflects the multidisciplinary nature of today’s pharmaceutical industry and the growing importance of cross-functional knowledge. Attending the conference provided him with the opportunity to connect these academic and technical interests to real-world applications while building relationships with industry leaders and peers from around the globe.

Below, Noah shares his reflections from the experience:

1. To start, can you share what inspired you to attend the 2026 ISPE Europe Annual Conference in Copenhagen, and what you were hoping to gain from the experience as a student?

As a student who set foot in the pharmaceutical industry environment freshly, attending the 2026 ISPE Europe Annual Conference in Copenhagen was a great opportunity to witness how people within the said industry communicate professionally, build links and share ideas which can lead to further innovations in the future. I was hoping to finally see what it is to attend such an important and international event, because I think it’s the best way to reach a qualitative experience, you can’t be more concrete.

2. From what you saw and experienced at the conference, how do you think ISPE is helping shape the future of the pharmaceutical industry, especially for the next generation of professionals?

ISPE is helping shape the future of the pharmaceutical industry by allowing the next generation to connect efficiently with the former generation. The experience of the former ones, in addition to the new vision brought by the next ones, it makes a healthy environment for improvement, in all inclusivity.

3. As a member of the ISPE France Affiliate, how did attending an international conference shape your perspective on the global pharmaceutical industry and your place within it?

This helped me to discover the importance of worldwide communication. It can be easy to say that you want to go abroad and bring your touch, but attending such an international event makes you realize more than anything else what it needs to be an international worker. Personally, it helped me to confirm that France won’t be my limit, I want to see beyond national borders.

4. How do you see this experience influencing your academic path or early career, and what advice would you give to other ISPE students who are considering attending a future ISPE Europe conference?

It was pleasant and qualitative experience. Because of the conference, I’ve been able to see things differently, and it is such a chance to attend something that big. So much professionalism reunited in a single place to talk, present, and share. You can only grow up after such an experience. My advice would be a classic one: take the chance and build your network.

Noah’s reflections underscore a deeper truth about the value of ISPE conferences: they don’t just inform—they accelerate growth. Beyond the presentations and technical sessions, these experiences immerse attendees in the energy of a global professional community working toward common goals. For students in particular, this environment offers something difficult to replicate elsewhere: a chance to test assumptions, expand perspectives, and begin seeing themselves as active contributors rather than observers.

In a field defined by constant innovation and increasing global interdependence, exposure to diverse ideas and ways of working is essential. Events like the 2026 ISPE Europe Annual Conference serve as launching points, where ambition is sharpened into direction and connections evolve into long-term collaboration. Noah’s journey reflects that shift: from curiosity about the industry to a more confident, outward-looking vision of his role within it. Ultimately, it’s this kind of experience that helps shape not just careers, but the future of the pharmaceutical industry itself.
