Nandita Vishwanathan

Dr. Nandita Vishwanathan is a seasoned biopharmaceutical professional with over 10 years of experience in drug substance process development, currently Head of Process Technologies in the Technology & Innovation group. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota on CHO cell bioprocessing. She began her career in biologics process development at Takeda prior to joining Merck KgAa in 2017. Her expertise spans early- and late-stage CMC programs, regulatory filings, and technical transfer, while actively managing relationships with external partners. She has been instrumental in integrating cutting edge technologies in mainstream drug substance manufacturing processes, including the first continuous manufacturing process. Passionate about advancing biopharmaceutical processes, Dr. Vishwanathan also contributes to industry initiatives like biopharma process ontology and process analytical technology.
