Benjamin S. Hughes

Ben Hughes a Bioprocess (Chemical) Engineer with over 18 years of experience and is the Director of Clinical Operations at Patheon’s St Louis mammalian biologics drug product manufacturing facility. In this role Ben leads the Upstream, Downstream and Tech Transfer teams spanning approximately 80 people across four production suites. Prior to this role, Ben was the Operations Manager for Patheon’s Brisbane, Australian start-up facility where he led the technical design, build and fit out the $65M state of the art multiproduct facility, as well as building the site team that enabled a successful audit and licensure to produce GMP batches within 2 years of beginning fit-out. Ben also has extensive experience bringing a broad range of biologics products from a development stage to market with cell line and process development at the University of Queensland, downstream commercial optimization of serum-based products with CSL Behring and generating upstream process development and GMP production of clinical vaccine products for Merck & Co., Inc.
