Maria Rosario Barangan

Ms. Maria Rosario (Rosie) Barangan has more than 35 years’ experience in pharmaceutical
manufacturing and quality assurance. She is currently the Vice President for Manufacturing of
E.L. Laboratories, Inc. and a professorial lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of
Pharmacy.
She obtained her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Industrial Pharmacy at the
University of the Philippines Manila and did post graduate studies in Perugia, Italy as an Italian
Government scholar.
She is involved in various professional and corporate organizations. She was the Founding Vice
President and a former President of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE)
Philippine Affiliate. She is currently a member of the Technical Panel for Pharmacy Education
(TPPE) under the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and a member of the
Career Progression and Specialization Program and Credit Accumulation and Transfer System
Committee (CPSP-CATS) under the Board of Pharmacy, Philippine Professional Regulatory
Commission.
Ms. Barangan received several professional awards such as the Ishidate Award for Pharmacists
in the Pharmaceutical Industry given by the Federation of Asian Pharmaceuticals Associations
(FAPA), the Outstanding Pharmacist for Industry given by the Philippine Pharmacists Association
(PPhA) and Unilab, and the Outstanding Professional for Pharmacy awarded by the Philippine
Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC). Recently, she was awarded the Distinction and
Excellence Award for Private/ Specialized Practice by the Philippine Federation of Professional
Associations
