Frequently Asked Questions
What is ISPE Lumen?
ISPE Lumen is an AI-powered knowledge assistant trained exclusively on ISPE's trusted Body of Knowledge. It helps you quickly explore guidance, best practices, and technical insights drawn directly from ISPE resources.
What information does ISPE Lumen know?

ISPE Lumen is designed to help users explore and learn from select ISPE-owned content included in the beta experience. Its responses are grounded in reliable, authoritative ISPE resources, helping users find information more efficiently while supporting learning, exploration, and professional judgment.

During the beta, ISPE Lumen can provide information from approved ISPE content made available within the tool, which may include resources such as ISPE articles, select Body of Knowledge materials, and other ISPE-published resources included in the beta content set.

For ISPE Members, this includes access to member-available resources such as the complimentary 25+ ISPE Good Practice Guides and the latest issues of Pharmaceutical Engineering® Magazine. These resources help members explore practical guidance, industry insights, and technical knowledge from across ISPE’s trusted Body of Knowledge.

ISPE Lumen is intended to make ISPE content easier to navigate by providing cited responses that point users back to the relevant ISPE source materials. It does not create new standards, replace expert interpretation, or provide customer service support, but it can help users better understand and engage with the ISPE resources available to them.

What information does ISPE Lumen not know?

ISPE Lumen is designed to help users explore and learn from select ISPE-owned content included in the beta experience. It is not trained on general internet content or user conversations. This ensures its responses are grounded solely in reliable, authoritative ISPE resources—helping maintain accuracy, consistency, and trust in every answer.

Because ISPE Lumen is intentionally limited to approved ISPE content, it does not have access to every ISPE resource, system, or member interaction. At this time, ISPE Lumen cannot provide answers based on:

  • Paid ISPE Guidance Documents or other restricted publications not included in the beta content set
  • Affiliate or Chapter websites, local event pages, or region-specific web content
  • Conversations, posts, or discussions within ISPE Engage
  • Webinar recordings, webinar Q&A, or presentation content not included in the beta content set
  • Logistical onsite event information, such as room locations, registration details, schedules, badge questions, or onsite support updates
  • Individual member records, membership status, purchases, invoices, renewals, or account-specific information

ISPE Lumen is not a customer service or member support bot. For questions about your membership, event registration, account access, purchases, invoices, renewals, or other support needs, at +1 (813) 960-2105 or email us at ask@ispe.org.

What makes ISPE Lumen different from other AI models?
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, ISPE Lumen is purpose-built for ISPE's technical community. It draws exclusively from ISPE's proprietary, expert-level content and provides clear citations so you can explore the original sources and go deeper when needed.
What if I don't agree with the answer?

ISPE Lumen is designed to support learning and exploration, but it should not replace professional judgment, expert review, or the appropriate use of ISPE source materials. If you do not agree with an answer, we encourage you to review the cited

ISPE sources provided in the response and use them to evaluate the information in context.

Because ISPE Lumen is a beta tool, some responses may not fully capture the nuance of a topic or may require additional interpretation. You can try rephrasing your question, asking a follow-up question, or requesting more context from the cited ISPE resources.

If an answer appears inaccurate, incomplete, or unclear, please share feedback through the available feed back option. Your feedback helps ISPE evaluate the tool’s performance, improve the user experience, and strengthen how ISPE Lumen supports trusted knowledge discovery.

Can I ask questions in another language?

Yes, ISPE Lumen can understand and respond in most languages.

While ISPE Lumen aims to provide high-quality translations, AI can still make mistakes. Always verify translations, particularly when working with technical terms.

Why are some answers more detailed than others?

Your level of access determines the depth of content Lumen can draw from.

Members receive insights from both non-member and member-only resources, resulting in more comprehensive answers.

Is my chat history saved?
Members have exclusive access to ISPE Lumen chat history. Join or login to use this feature.
What can I do with non-member access?
Non-member access is ideal for exploring ISPE and getting started with industry knowledge. You can ask questions and receive clear, summarized answers, explore insights from non-member ISPE website content and Pharmaceutical Engineering® articles, and discover relevant resources and topics quickly.
What additional access do members get?
Member access is designed for professionals who need deeper, more actionable guidance. Members receive richer, more comprehensive answers, access to insights from member-only content including select ISPE Good Practice Guides, and the ability to build on previous questions with chat history.
How do I get the most out of ISPE Lumen?
Ask about challenges you're facing today, technical topics or guidance areas, best practices and implementation approaches, or where to find relevant ISPE resources. The more specific your question, the more useful your answer will be.
