On 3 October, the New Jersey Institute of Technology Student Chapter of ISPE, organized a welcoming party for its current Student Members as well as other students who are interested in ISPE activities. More than 20 students attended. Mr. Chuan Sun, current President of the Student Chapter, first gave a presentation about ISPE and then introduced Dr. Piero Armenante, Faculty Advisor for the NJIT Student Chapter, who welcomed the students and thanked them for their volunteer contributions to a number of initiatives, such as the NJ Science & Engineering Festival that took place on 13-14 October, 2012, at the Clifton High School.
He then recognized the NJIT student participants to the ISPE New Jersey Chapter Student Poster Competition that took place in April at the New Brunswick headquarters of Johnson & Johnson. The NJIT student presenters did very well at that event and two of them, Ms. Shyamala Pillai and Mr. Nonjaros Chomcharn, were selected to present their posters at the ISPE Annual Meeting that took place in San Francisco in November. All their expenses were covered by the ISPE NJ Chapter. Dr. Armenante then presented awards and certificates of participation to the poster presenters. A plaque recognizing the first place obtained by Ms. Shyamala Pillai at the poster competition will be placed in the departmental office. Then all participants enjoyed the refreshments that the chapter had organized.
