ISPE Midwest Chapter President's Message

I want to start by saying that I hope everyone has had a great summer and survived the horrible weather that we had early on. We have hosted a couple of golfing events this summer and I am proud to say that our charity donation and mulligan money went to help the flooding victims in our Chapter. It is the spirit of this organization to help our fellow citizens that makes me proud to be a part of such an organization. Thank you to all the members that participated in the events and made it possible to help those in need.

As fall approaches we begin a time where the event programming begins to pick up. We will start with a plant tour of Custom Powder System in Springfield that will be paired with our popular Annual Springfield Golfing Event. I would like to thank our generous sponsors for helping make this event a success, with a special thanks going to Mac McIntosh of Custom Powder for the tour of his facility and for sponsoring of the event! We are also revisiting the Iowa dinner meeting that we were planning, but postponed due to the floods. Keep an eye out in the programs section of the Web site to get updates on future events. I hope that each of you is able to attend at least one event and if you have any ideas for events in your area or would be interested in helping with an event or speaking, please contact me at sherry@deltainstrumentcompany.com or 417-743-4906. As I finish my last letter as the 2007-2008 President, I would like to give a big thank you to all Members and vendors for the outstanding support that they have given the Chapter over the last year and making this year a huge success. Without your hard work and generosity, it would not have been possible. We have undertaken many new initiatives this year with outstanding results, including our dinner meeting venue and the resource directory. I hope that these initiatives are bringing additional value to your ISPE membership. I would also like to give a special “Thank you” to all the vendors who participated in this first ever Midwest and Great Lakes Resource Directory. The directory should be a valuable resource to everyone and is being mailed to each of you as I write. I would also like to thank Chris Clarke and Susan Clarke for an outstanding job in putting the directory together!

In closing, we are in the midst of our annual election and have added a few more positions to our board for the upcoming year. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve each of you over the last year and I look forward to further involvement in the Chapter. Please keep a look out for the ballot and be sure to send it in!
