Joanne Barrick is an Advisor in Global Process Validation Support, within Technical Services/Manufacturing Science at Eli Lilly and company. Joanne has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having held various positions in Manufacturing and Packaging Operations and Technical Services, at Pharmacia and Lilly. Joanne’s team has developed and delivers leader led courses on process, cleaning, and packaging validation, which are taught at Lilly sites around the world. Her team provides support for more than 300 validation related customer requests per year, conducts external validation related surveillance, fosters efficiency through collaboration and provides input to various internal quality standards, and external guidances. The team also develops risk based tools related to validation and QbD applications. Joanne is a member of the ISPE Product Quality Lifecycle Implementation (PQLI) Technical Committee and co-chairs the Validation Discussion Group. She also is Chair of the ISPE Lifecycle Approach to PV Implementation team which endeavors to provide approaches and examples of practical application of the lifecycle approach. The team held 4 PV conferences/sessions in 2012 and also published two discussion papers addressing significant implementation challenges. Joanne was recently named ISPE 2012 Member of the Year. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University.
