Christian Matz studied pharmacy at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg/ Germany followed by a Ph.D. thesis in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology in cooperation with Novartis Ltd. Basel / Analytical Development. In 2000 he joined the Parenteral Manufacturing Group of F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd in Basel where he held various positions as Project Manager Facility GMP-Upgrade, Department Head of Production Service and Infrastructure and Department Head of Qualification/ Validation/ Monitoring. In March 2007 he took over the position as Head of Production Lyophilisation Module 3 at Roche Diagnostics GmbH Mannheim/ Germany, leading a production module for liquid vials and lyophilisates with RABS filling technology. January 2008 he was promoted Head of User Group Trayfiller Project Mannheim being responsible for the setup of a new manufacturing facility for prefilled syringes. The project scope further includes high potent API handling, optical inspection, device assembly, secondary packaging as well as single use systems in the fill/finish area. After successful completion of this project, Christian returned to Headquarter Basel in April 2012. He currently contributes as Global Project Manager to a multifunctional team, being responsible for the deployment of harmonized primary packaging components in the Roche Group.
