Nicole Pierson is the mother of Gavin, age 10, a pediatric brain tumor survivor. Diagnosed at age five with a rare teratoma, he was the first pediatric patient to receive compassionate use for the drug Palbociclib. Nicole is an advocate for pediatric brain tumor research and a guest author for Caring Bridge and Children's Hospitals of Minnesota. She is a math teacher with a master's degree in education and an education specialist degree in brain-based teaching. Nicole is also the author of "Be Strong and Brave", a memoir about how Gavin's faith and hope saved his life. Nicole, and her husband Steve live in Ramsey, Minnesota with their three children.
