Networking Receptions
There will be Networking Receptions on Monday and Wednesday evening during the 2008 Washington Conference. This is a great opportunity to meet colleagues and reconnect with former ones as you enjoy a drink and some delicious hors d’oeuvres.
ISPE GOES GREEN!
Look for water stations at the ISPE Engineering Regulatory Compliance Conference rather than bottled water. In an effort to “Go Green,” we have elected to stop using the bottled water and serve water in cups instead. Or, you can bring a sports bottle with you and refill it!
Dining Around Washington
We will set up a table at the Washington Conference located near registration with suggestions of restaurants in the area and their locations. This is a great opportunity to meet up with fellow conference attendees outside of the conference location. Look for more details in upcoming months.
Area Information and Things to Do
Located only a few hundred feet across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., Arlington’s proximity to the nation’s capital has created a common history, connecting it to Washington, D.C. from very day the city was first conceived. Originally part of the 10-mile square boundary of the Capital City, Arlington played a central role in the birth of the nation’s capital, and in the formation of this country. Embedded in the history of this great city, visitors will find deep ties that bound Arlington to Washington, and the unbroken thread that wove its way through the national fabric, beginning with the founding fathers, and ending with the modern-day heroes.
Washington DC visitor's information
In Arlington, you can adventure into the nation's history at the nearby Arlington National Cemetery or the Arlington Historical Museum ; learn about the US government at the Pentagon, or stroll through the historical Theodore Roosevelt Island Park.
In Washington, take the opportunity to stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue and the National Mall to see famous national sites such as the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial; or take some time to visit the White House, the Capitol Building, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and the Smithsonian Institution; or even take in a game at Kennedy Memorial Stadium.
If the night life is what you seek, there is plenty to do. In Arlington, sing karaoke and dance disco at Freddie's Beach Bar & Restaurant or listen to live music and dance the night away, Latin American style, at Gua-Rapo. In our nation's capitol, strings of nightclubs surround the greater downtown, many of which have live music nightly. Try Nightclub 9:30, or, if you're a jazz lover, Blues Alley.
